As a Digital Recruitment Specialist I have the privilege of uncovering and solving employers and job seekers ‘pain points’. These areas of friction are often around salary or budget. Either requiring a skill set for a key job that needs delivering to drive company objectives and create revenue. Or developing a salary reaching career aspirations, as well as life goals and buying your first home.

Liz and I have recently been engaged on an exclusive retained project with a client to develop their new in-house Performance Marketing / Paid Media team. The company we helped were executing an exciting proposition to drive Paid Media activity and bring the work their external agency were doing, in-house to work alongside the rest of their marketing team.

Our challenge was to find ‘agency side Paid Media’ experienced people, who wanted to move in-house and who had experience of Paid Media delivery, strategy, extensive budget management and team management skills. The budget was set.

We have seen an upward shift in salaries especially within the agency side sphere with a general increase compared to in-house specialist roles in the Sussex area. We found that even though job seekers were open to the change in focus from agency to in-house and the new challenges that job would bring, by focussing on one brand rather than multiple clients. Overall they were reluctant (understandably) to take a drop in salary.

Others felt that they really enjoyed the variation and constant development that they found agency side life provided them, and were looking to continue their careers in marketing agencies working on multiple brands and industries.

Our client offered excellent benefits, hybrid working and a modern and ethical office environment which shone bright and really enticed the job seeker welcoming them to explore further.

We successfully filled their briefs and recruited their internal Performance Marketingteam, finding them a mix of talent from in-house capabilities and also agency side, from Sussex and further afield with people relocating to Brighton for this exciting opportunity. Our journey was insightful and facinating, we really enjoyed this experience and project.
